Not a book but a long "Think Tank" paper on how the West, but especially the US, should respond to modern Islamist activities. Policies are recommended that expand the current focus on violence to additional areas under the heading of Dawa the call to Islam.
The paper is full of interesting information and is a must-read primer on current events from a woman who knows what she is talking about. The main thrust is the political aims of the Islamist movement will use our western freedoms against us to gain power and then eliminate those very freedoms. A compelling argument but some of the policy recommendations could be turned against any religion that seeks to gain converts. Another policy recommendation is to combat Islamism with Cold War tools, like ideological scrutiny before immigration and a re-energized Voice of America to fight a war of ideas (Reestablishing the US Information Agency - USIA- is also being advocated to fight Russian propaganda which you might have noticed has been in the news lately)
