Test Examples for Nonlinear Programming Codes

Test Examples for Nonlinear Programming Codes by Willi Hock , Klaus Schittkowski
English | PDF | 1981 | 188 Pages | ISBN : 3540105611 | 9.2 MB

The performance of a nonlinear programming algorithm can only be ascertained by numerical experiments requiring the collection and implementation of test examples in dependence upon the desired performance criterium. This book should be considered as an assis tance for a test designer since it presents an extensive collec tion of nonlinear programming problems which have been used in the past to test or compare optimization programs. He will be in formed about the optimal solution, about the structure of the problem in the neighbourhood of the solution, and, in addition, about the usage of the corresp, onding FORTRAN subroutines if he is interested in obtaining them -ofi a magnetic tape. Chapter I shows how the test examples are documented. In par ticular, the evaluation of computable information about the solu tion of a problem is outlined.

Decision & Control in Management Science: Essays in Honor of Alain Haurie by Georges Zaccour
English | PDF | 2002 | 419 Pages | ISBN : 0792379373 | 35.4 MB

Decision & Control in Management Science analyzes emerging decision problems in the management and engineering sciences. It is divided into five parts. The first part explores methodological issues involved in the optimization of deterministic and stochastic dynamical systems. The second part describes approaches to the model energy and environmental systems and draws policy implications related to the mitigation of pollutants. The third part applies quantitative techniques to problems in finance and economics, such as hedging of options, inflation targeting, and equilibrium asset pricing. The fourth part considers a series of problems in production systems. Optimization methods are put forward to provide optimal policies in areas such as inventory management, transfer-line, flow-shop and other industrial problems. The last part covers game theory. Chapters range from theoretical issues to applications in politics and interactions in franchising systems.

The Rational Expectation Hypothesis, Time-Varying Parameters and Adaptive Control: A Promising Combination? by Marco P. Tucci
English | PDF | 2004 | 268 Pages | ISBN : 0792374843 | 23 MB

One of the major controversies in macroeconomics over the last 30 years has been that on the effectiveness of stabilization policies. However, this debate, between those who believe that this kind of policies is useless if not harmful and those who argue in favor of it, has been mainly theoretical so far.

Price Dynamics in Equilibrium Models: The Search for Equilibrium and the Emergence of Endogenous Fluctuations by Jan Tuinstra
English | PDF | 2001 | 243 Pages | ISBN : 0792372654 | 22.4 MB

A long-standing unsolved problem in economic theory is how economic equilibria are attained. Price Dynamics in Equilibrium Models: The Search for Equilibrium and the Emergence of Endogenous Fluctuations considers a number of adjustment processes in different economic models and investigates their dynamical behaviour.

Parallel Algorithms for Linear Models: Numerical Methods and Estimation Problems by Erricos John Kontoghiorghes
English | PDF | 2000 | 196 Pages | ISBN : 0792377206 | 14.6 MB

Parallel Algorithms for Linear Models provides a complete and detailed account of the design, analysis and implementation of parallel algorithms for solving large-scale linear models. It investigates and presents efficient, numerically stable algorithms for computing the least-squares estimators and other quantities of interest on massively parallel systems.

Network Economics: A Variational Inequality Approach by Anna Nagurney
English | PDF | 1993 | 334 Pages | ISBN : 0792392930 | 25.2 MB

Computational economics has been at the forefront in stimulating the de velopment of mathematical methodologies for the analysis and solution of complex, large-scale problems. The past decade, in particular, has witnessed a dramatic growth of interest in this area. Supported by the increasing avail ability of data and advances in computer architectures, the scale and scope of problems that can now be handled are unveiling new horizons in both theoretical modeling and policy analysis. Accompanying the activity in computational economics is a need for the unification, documentation, and presentation of fundamental methodologies for use by both researchers and practitioners. This volume aims to make a contribution in this direction.

Handbook of Group Decision and Negotiation by D. Marc Kilgour, Colin Eden
English | PDF (True) | 2010 | 473 Pages | ISBN : 9400789718 | 11.8 MB

Publication of the Handbook of Group Decision and Negotiation marks a milestone in the evolution of the group decision and negotiation (GDN) eld. On this occasion, editors Colin Eden and Marc Kilgour asked me to write a brief history of the eld to provide background and context for the volume. They said that I am in a good position to do so: Actively involved in creating the GDN Section and serving as its chair; founding and leading the GDN journal, Group Decision and Negotiation as editor-in-chief, and the book series, “Advances in Group Decision and Negotiation” as editor; and serving as general chair of the GDN annual meetings. I accepted their invitation to write a brief history. In 1989 what is now the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS) established its Section on Group Decision and Negotiation. The journal Group Decision and Negotiation was founded in 1992, published by Springer in cooperation with INFORMS and the GDN Section. In 2003, as an ext- sion of the journal, the Springer book series, “Advances in Group Decision and Negotiation” was inaugurated.

Complexity and Artificial Markets by Klaus Schredelseker, Florian Hauser
English | PDF (True)| 2008 | 235 Pages | ISBN : 3540705538 | 3.3 MB

In recent years, agent-based simulation has become a widely accepted tool when dealing with complexity in economics and other social sciences. The contributions presented in this book apply agent-based methods to derive results from complex models related to market mechanisms, evolution, decision making, and information economics. In addition, the applicability of agent-based methods to complex problems in economics is discussed from a methodological perspective. The papers presented in this collection combine approaches from economics, finance, computer science, natural sciences, philosophy, and cognitive sciences.
