Remastered German issue. Uptempo and rocking style of Rai, not the sentimental, bluesy style. If you like Rachid Taha or Cheikha Rimitti, you'll enjoy this, too. Amazing lead violin with haunting melodies all over. He was very successful for a very short period around 1990.
From Allmusic:
Like both Ahmed Fakroun and Cheb Mami, Kader tends to upset rai snobs, who regard him as too poppish (as if electronic rai weren't born of such crossovers). In reality, he's good. His rhythms are a little harder and more funk-oriented than most mainstream raisters, and his backings include very effective rock guitar and gorgeous Maghrebi fiddle.
The musical traditions of Algeria are fused with modern influences by Algeria-born and France-based vocalist Cheb Kader. Respectfully known as "the prince of rai," Kader uses music as a vehicle for examining the role of women and artists in modern society and the problems caused by immigration. Born in Oran, Algeria to Moroccan parents, Kader moved to France at the age of nine, settling in the eastern French city of Mulhouse. Launching his musical career in 1986, he struggled to find an outlet for his music. Frustrated by his lack of success he focused on his family in the early '90s. He continued to work out songs in his home studio, however, and made his comeback with the Latin-tinged single "Mani," recorded as a duet with Sergent Garcia.
