The Norwegian musicians Jan Bang, Erik Honoré, Gaute Storaas and Arve Henriksen have composed the music for the film 'Victoria', based on Knut Hamsun's novel. They have also performed and produced the score, which features the pianist Tigran Hamasyan, the guitarist Robert Jürjendal and the Bratislava Symphony Orchestra conducted by David Hernando Rico.

For Lars Danielsson, a consummate craftsman of sound on both cello and bass, the power of music resides in melody. It is the heart from which everything else develops and his Liberetto ensemble has stayed true to this principle again on its third album. The word liberetto, which Danielsson coined for the name of the group, also serves well as a descriptor of his art, a reference both to Western music, the source of his compositions, and to their lyrical, vocal character. But also hidden in the band's name is the Latin adjective liber ("free"). That stands for improvisation, for how individuals can take lines and shapes and adapt them, but above all it refers to Danielsson's musical understanding which acknowledges no boundaries.

Or actually in real time going somewhere by train, crossing new territory, discovering the beauty of nature and meeting people, making new friends and making connections across borders.

"The Height Of The Reeds" started as a commissioned work to the city of Hull, Great Britain´s cultural capital 2017. Composed by Arve Henriksen, Eivind Aarset, Jan Bang and Jez riley French, the work celebrates the longstanding seafaring relationship between Hull and Scandinavia. It was originally the musical companion to a sound walk that took place in April, May and June 2017.

Istanbul born performing artist, producer, composer and instrument builder Berke Can Özcan takes you on a captivating journey through the depths of nature on the Lycian Way -a 520 km long hiking trail in southwestern Turkey around part of the coast of ancient Lycia, named after the Lycian civilization that once ruled in this region-. As Özcan ventures deeper into uncharted territory on the trail, he stumbles upon a sight that sparks an artistic flame, the Twin Rocks. In collaboration with critically acclaimed Norwegian trumpet mastermind Arve Henriksen and Brooklyn-based baritone saxophonist Jonah Parzen-Johnson, Özcan immerses the listener in a mesmerizing soundscape that echoes the wonder and mystery of the trail leading to ancient Lycia.

Kari Bremnes is a Norwegian singer and songwriter from the Lofoten Islands, based in Oslo. Nordic, European, open, powerful, personal and melancholic - are the words that describe Kari's music. From light to dark and raw, but always deeply connected to mystery of life and human fate. For "Over en by" she has written all the lyrics and most of the music.

This far-reaching double album, recorded and mixed in three days in Lugano, introduces a quartet featuring pianist Tigran Hamasyan with Arve Henriksen on trumpet, guitarist Eivind Aarset and Jan Bang on live samples. The musicians had played in diverse configurations on ECM, but with Hamasyan at the centre of the sound, bringing with him ancient folk melodies transfigured in the compositions of Komitas, other inspirations come into play. All four players are at a creative peak here, whether freely reflecting upon Armenian themes or spontaneously shaping atmospheric soundscapes together.

The colours of The Magical Forest glow in this remarkable recording which brings together Sinikka Langeland’s Norwegian-Finnish-Swedish Starflowers quintet with the singers of the Trio Mediӕval. It’s an inspired concept: the Trio Mediӕval, with their affinity for folk music and their unique vocal blend, adapt themselves ideally to Sinikka’s sound-world, which is once archaic, timeless and contemporary. The quintet members, all bandleaders in their own right, are amongst the most characterful players in Scandinavia today, and Sinikka sets them free to improvise around her cycle of songs, built upon myths and legends of the world tree.

Over several summers Trio Mediaeval and trumpeter Arve Henriksen spent many days together by the beautiful Dalsfjorden on the Norwegian west coast, where most of the music on this recording was born. Fascinated and inspired by Icelandic sagas, beautiful chants, folk, religious hymns and fiddle tunes, the quartet has arranged a unique set of songs where improvisation, mediaeval and traditional music from Iceland, Norway and Sweden meet the present. The singers and trumpeter have often performed in live settings, a collaboration called "a richly musical and imaginative encounter" by The Guardian.

Whatever one thinks and believes about salvation, sin and grace, one must have a heart of stone not to believe in Kim Rysstad when he interprets old spiritual songs such as "Jesus din søde forening at smake", "Villfarande barn" and " Langt Inn På Ville Heii".

Arve Henriksen is a classically trained musician whose ethereal, Japanese-influenced trumpet playing has literally placed him in a league of his own. He was born in Stranda, Norway, and educated at the Trondheim Conservatory. His interest in minimalist Japanese music went on to have a profound effect on his trumpet playing and his music career. Henriksen went on to collaborate with numerous musicians on avant-garde, minimalist, and Eastern-influenced music, working with artists such as Anders Jormin, Edward Vesala, and the Source, before striking out on his own with 2001's Sakuteiki. He is also the trumpter of the improvisational jazz terror group Supersilent.

Properly transcendent deep-dream jazz fantasy from prolific trumpet virtuoso Arve Henriksen (Supersilent) and Norwegian pianist Kjetil Husebø, together shaping an album that’s much, much more than the not so inconsiderable sum of its parts. Like a fever-dream comedown, it takes us from insanely rich sounding 4th world topographies to fizzing, electric ambience and fluttering prepared piano, perfectly soundtracking the humid un-reality we’re living through. The Norwegian trumpeter’s ninth album feels like an opaque and ambient jazz album you can walk right into. Truly, his instrument always seems on the verge of speaking.

Poolplayers is another surprising manifestation of a direction in free improvised music that’s distinctive but hard to define: it’s more an attitude than a genre. Poolplayers make music on the introverted end of this nebulous movement, exploring the interaction of live electronics and their own personal languages of extended techniques to create soundscapes that exert a palpable fascination on this 2008 release. The members of the group, all well known in Europe, came together in France in 2005.

"Solidification" is a quite stunning 7LP box that includes Arve Henriksen's Rune Grammofon albums "Sakuteiki", "Chiaroscuro" and "Strjon", all with added bonus tracks, as well as a brand new album called "Chron", his first since his ECM album "Cartography". If that isn't enough the package includes two DVDs with all 56 tracks as Hi-Res files in original master quality (24/44 or 24/96 has placed on DVD).
