SVR punk rock recording artist Kate Clover's sophomore LP, The Apocalypse Dream, was recorded and produced by Jonah Falco (Fucked Up, Chubby and the Gang, The Chisel) and mixed by Carlos de la Garza (The Linda Lindas, Paramore). She describes the record as "Sonically inspired by 70s punk, power pop, and a bit of The Kinks. Lyrically inspired by Beat poet Charles Plymell. Reflecting on topics such as self-destruction, politics, love, and the desire to find oneself in a world gone mad."

Playing Favorites is Sheer Mag’s third full-length and first with Third Man Records, the band capitalize on a decade’s worth of devotion to their own collective spirit—a spirit refined in both the sweaty trenches of punk warehouses and the larger-than-life glamour of concert halls—emerging with a dense work of gripping emotions, massive hooks, and masterfully constructed power-pop anthems. This is the record the Philadelphian rock and roll four-piece has always been destined to make.

The Who‘s 1967 album The Who Sell Out will be reissued as a seven-disc super deluxe edition box set in April. The album was originally planned by Pete Townshend and the band’s managers (Kit Lambert and Chris Stamp) as a loose concept album with jingles and commercials linking the songs. This approach was partly because the record label were demanding a new record and Townshend felt as if he didn’t have enough songs!

Previously unissued live 1992 set from the Memphis power-pop legend.

This is a very rare 1980 live set from LA's power pop icons The Knack, on the music show Countdown. "Baby Talks Dirty,” "Good Girls Don't," and their hit single “My Sharona,” the #1 song of 1979. Their debut album Get the Knack sold over six million copies worldwide. Their signature combination of pop melodies and irresistible rock beats broke the stranglehold of Disco and changed the course of popular music for the next decade.

When first released in July 2003, A New Devotion sounded like it might burst out of its jewel case. Even at a wopping 76-minutes, the CD could barely contain four hyperactive lads romping across music history like kids in a candy store. Detractors hated its retro, upbeat vibe. Some even accused the band of wearing stylistic straightjackets. But those who “got it” rejoiced—a merry band of influential and vocal supporters that included Little Steven van Zandt, Al Kooper, Andrew Loog Oldham and Anton Newcombe. Pre-social media, word spread the old-fashioned (i.e. slower) way—sympathetic message boards, local gigs and radio shows. The High Dials soon found themselves circling round and round the continent in their purple van, helping build the scene that would later blossom into psychedelia’s third wave.

Joan Jett has confirmed that new music is on the way. After teasing fans last week with a picture of herself in the studio and the promise of a “big announcement,” Jett revealed that she and the Blackhearts will release the new EP Mindsets on June 6.

Amidst the isolation of the past 2+ years, PONY’s Sam Bielanski and their partner Matty Morand transformed themselves into songwriting machines. Thanks in part to their pandemic podcast project, 2 Much TV, which challenged themselves to write a new song every single week, they wrote over 100 new original songs - finding inspiration from hours of television, books, and self reflection, and constantly sharpening their songwriting tools with every new melody.

"Wicked System of Things was written and recorded very quickly in early 2017. It was partly inspired by a show I had played with Cheap Trick in January. After the show, Tom Peterson (who I’ve known for a long time) and I had discussed he and Rick Nielson playing bass and guitar on something of mine, and needless to say I was giddy about the idea! With this in mind I immediately started about a week of writing, then recorded drums with Ric Menck, and even though it never worked out for the Cheap Trick guys to play on the record (we both had new albums and extensive touring coming last summer) I quickly finished up the project playing bass myself, with Jason Victor playing most of the guitars…"

Matthew Sweet played in bands in Athens, Georgia as that scene exploded, collaborating with R.E.M.’s Michael Stipe, playing in Linda Stipe’s Oh-OK, and The Buzz Of Delight. That work scooped him up into the major label world making countless acclaimed solo records, forming the supergroup The Thorns with Shawn Mullins and Pete Droge, and beginning a series of covers albums with The Bangles’ Susannah Hoffs. Now, it’s time for Matthew to just plain rock out by himself again.
