Jonas Lindberg & The Other Side - Miles From Nowhere (2022)

Swedish progressive rock band Jonas Lindberg & The Other Side will release their new album "Miles From Nowhere" on Inside Out Music in 2022.

Seven songs have been recorded for this by multi-instrumentalist and composer Lindberg (lead vocals, bass, keyboards, guitars, mandolin) and his colleagues Jenny Storm (lead vocals), Simon Wilhelmsson (drums), Calle Stålenbring (lead guitars), Nicklas Thelin (guitar), Jonas Sundqvist (vocals), Jonathan Lundberg (drums), Maria Olsson (drums) and Joel Lindberg (guitar), who exploit the full range of progressive rock here. And that ranges from the rousing "Summer Queen" (led by Jenny Storm) to the folksy instrumental "Astral Journey" to the closing title track, an approximately 25-minute monumental epic with Roine Stolt (The Flower Kings, Transatlantic) supporting on lead guitar.

"Miles From Nowhere" is already the fourth release and the second album with his progressive rock project Jonas Lindberg & The Other Side. It was recorded between 2019 and 2020, partly during the pandemic, and is the follow-up to 2016's "Pathfinder." Lindberg says of the record, "This album is more 'symphonic' in a way, with much longer songs and even some epics. The lyrics are also much more personal in a way, reflecting a lot of things that happened in my life between the two albums. While I considered 'Pathfinder' a band effort at the time, on this album I play a lot of the instruments myself and even sing lead vocals on some of the tracks. This was partly due to the logistical difficulties caused by the pandemic. There are also more guest musicians than just the original project members, and one of my biggest influences in the genre, Roine Stolt, is featured as a guest musician on the epic title track."

With the song "Oceans Of Time" the band 2021 already presented the first single. Sung by the band's leader himself, the folky track is about an ending relationship in the form of a ship on a stormy sea. "This track is one of my favorites from the new album. It has a lot of influences from the Swedish folk music I grew up with. It's also one of the tracks where I sing lead vocals myself, which I don't normally do. But Simon [Wilhelmsson] pushed me when I showed him the demos I sang on, and he said I should sing more tracks myself. So I thought I'd give it a try!" says Jonas Lindberg.
