Irakere (faux-Yoruba for 'forest') is a Cuban band founded by pianist Chucho Valdés (son of Bebo Valdés) in 1973. They won the Grammy Award for Best Latin Recording in 1980 with their album Irakere. Irakere was a seminal musical laboratory, where historic innovations in both Afro-Cuban jazz and Cuban popular dance music were created. The group used a wide array of percussion instruments like batá, abakuá and arará drums, chequerés, erikundis, maracas, claves, cencerros, bongó, tumbadoras (congas), and güiro.

Asturcon was a band based in the Asturias region of Spain, and was formed sometime in the second half of the 70's as the creative vehicle of composer and multi-instrumentalist Victor Carrizo, taking the band name from a race of local horses. Blending elements from local and celtic folk music with symphonic art rock was the stylistic expression pursued; according to the critics with a fair degree of success, in particular on the longer creations on this production. The sound is akin to Mike Oldfield from his "QE2" period, and there are Latino guitars and bagpipes that create a very strong sense of place especially in a European sense.

Excellent 70’s Spanish symphonic progressive rock album with a powerful progressive musical prowess. "Intención" is very reminiscent at times of Pink Floyd (Meddle era) with great guitar soloing and a ton of great keyboard work (Hammond and moog). Originally issued in 1976, "Intención" is the perfect follow-up to The Beginning of the End, with Atila offering further pieces led by the strong guitar licks of Eduardo Niebla, Benet Nogué's organ & Moog, and Joan Punyet's drums melting in top progressive freakouts, plus the addition of wordless vocal parts and even some Catalan sung parts, besides adding a symphonic edge to the general sound. Side A offers three killer tracks in that vein, while the B-side is a new recording of the bands' signature theme "El Principio Del Fin," with updated overtones, Moog passages and a much better recorded sound than the one appearing on their debut LP…

Although Artaud was officially billed as the third Pescado Rabioso album, the Argentinean group had actually broken up by the time it was recorded. It's essentially a solo effort by singer-guitarist-songwriter Luis Alberto Spinetta, with contributions from his brother, drummer Carlos Gustavo Spinetta, bassist Emilio Del Guercio, and drummer Rodolfo García, the latter two of whom had played with Spinetta back in the pre-Pescado Rabioso band Almendra. If it's something of a progressive/psychedelic record, it has more to do with the juxtaposition of late-'60s and early-'70s styles on display than it has to do with the music itself. On various different tracks, Spinetta offers accomplished, sentimental acoustic-based folk-rock balladry ("Todas las Hojas Son del Viento"); languid jazzy San Francisco-styled mild psych…

The story of Cast begins in 1978 when the first golden era of Progressive Rock was agonizing, when the keyboardist Alfonso Vidales had the idea of creating a Rock band that blended Symphonic passages in order to keep his beloved Prog alive. Very little information can be found about the first 16 years of their existence, until 1994 when "Landing in a Serious Mind" is self released, an album that presents us a serious Symphonic band with an original sound.
1994 and 1995 are years of great activity for Cast, the band releases 5 albums. After two more albums and three years, the band signs with Musea for the release of "Imaginary Window" in 1999, an album that shows us a band that leaves behind the few Neo Prog leanings to embrace fully the Symphonic genre…

Short-lived Argentinian supergroup, that came to life in 1975 after the demise of Sui Generis. Initially Polifemo started as a Blues Rock trio with Sui Generis's Rinaldo Rafanelli on bass and Juan Rodriguez on bass along with guitarist David Lebón (ex-Pappo's Blues and a bandmate of Rinaldo Rafanelli in Color Humano). After a first single in 1975 the trio was joined by Espíritu's keyboardist Ciro Fogliatta and Polifemo, who had already singed with EMI, debuted in May 1976 with a self-titled debut.
While the basis of Polifemo's music was still a standard well-played Blues Rock, the presence of Fogliatta and the anxious spirits of the rest of the band make "Polifemo" much more than a rock release full of bluesy solos and grooves…

Aquelarre (meaning witches nocturnal meeting with the devil) was formed after the dissolution of the band Almendra in 1970, as its bass player Emilio del Güercio and drummer Rodolfo Garcia joined up with guitar player Héctor Stark and keyboard player Hugo González Neira joined up. They performed in B.A.Rock II festival 1971, and their first studio album "Aquelarre" was released in 1972. It's cover was drawn by the band's bass player, who became graphic designer later. Their music is sophisticated psychedelic rock with very impressionistic moments, artistic arrangements, surrealistic themes and they have a jazzy rhythm section…

Charly García (born Carlos Alberto García, 23 October 1951) is an Argentine singer-songwriter, musician and record producer. With a vast and renowned career, he formed and headlined two of the most popular bands in Argentina's rock history: Sui Generis in the 1970s and Serú Girán in the 1980s, plus cult status groups like progressive-rock act La Máquina de Hacer Pájaros and folk rock supergroup PorSuiGieco, both also in the 1970s. Since the 1980s García has worked mostly as a solo musician. His main instrument is the piano, followed by guitar and keyboards.

García is widely considered by critics as one of the most influential rock artists in South America, and (together with Luis Alberto Spinetta) as "The Father of Argentine Rock".

Miguel Mateos / ZAS, originally known as ZAS, was an Argentine rock group, one of the most emblematic of both Argentine rock and Spanish rock in the 1980s, and one of the most representative of the movement known as rock en your language that revitalized the rock scene throughout Latin America.

ZAS was formed in 1979 and just two years later, even without recording, it was the opening act for Queen on their visit to Argentina — the presentation was a success and paved the way for their record debut. ZAS was one of the leading bands in the revitalization of post-Malvinas Argentine rock, and became a phenomenon at the time of the return of democracy: for example, their album Rockas Vivas (1985) conquered the record for best-selling album of Argentine rock. Shortly after, ZAS began to tour throughout the American continent, becoming one of the most influential bands in rock in Spanish, and would even be the first Argentine band to play in the United States on September 7, 1989. Various factors caused ZAS disbanded in late 1989 and Mateos began his solo career.
