The Mole Show tour was such an emotional and financial fiasco, The Residents swore they'd never tour again. The losses incurred by taking a huge show on the road for six weeks were threatening the on-going existence of Ralph Records, consequently the band turned its focus back to recording. Distancing themselves from the Mole debacle, they moved toward the relative safety of The American Composer Series, then, following the success of George and James, eased back into the Mole Trilogy with The Big Bubble. Both albums sold well, especially in Japan, consequently the Wave store, the huge music marketing arm of the Seibu department store chain, offered the group several dates in Japan as part of the store's 5th Anniversary celebration. But, with the Mole Show nightmare still mocking their memories, The Residents initially refused. Consequently, Wave offered to cover all their expenses – air fare, hotel, performance costs, and shipping - in addition to a generous fee - and the 13th Anniversary Show was born.

Double Lp set featuring two live shows recorded in 1971 and 1972 plus the complete 1-10 (with a touch of 11) album, recorded in 1972 and previously only released in short excerpts. Raw and unsophisticated, and deeply experimental with regards the studio material, all three recordings shine a light onto the group’s early, intrauterine period, capturing them performing together, and represent an invaluable part of their formative story.

As the second Millennium AD drew to a close, The Residents began to take stock on a couple of thousand years of reasonably fruitful human endeavour. One text, they felt, had inescapably set the tone and dominated the narrative throughout the Western world for most of that period, often clouding the view as they looked back. Sure enough, The Bible, Testaments Old and New, seemed like fertile ground for a confused, anonymous band approaching their fourth decade. Throughout 1998 and 1999, The Residents set about writing, recording and extensively touring a set of songs based around some of the more curious, unsettling and downright messed up stories they found upon revisiting their old Sunday School Bibles, and present here the results of those industrious years. Complete with demos and sketches, two full live recordings, a live-in-the-studio reworking and the usual assorted ephemera plus later live recordings, 'The Wormwood Box' showcases a project the band still think of very fondly, and have often revisited. Join us and marvel as the Eyeball Oddballs somehow cram murder, rape, incest, vengeance, slaughter and, erm, circumcision into a radio friendly pop format!

The Residents released DUCK STAB! as a seven inch, 33 1/3 rpm EP in 1978. For the group, the relatively lighthearted EP represented a break from the much more experimental Eskimo recordings which consumed the majority of a four-year period from 1975-79; for Ralph Records it was a much-needed revenue source at a time when the band was not producing much product.

As the Sixties mutated into the Seventies, a group of people who would go on to become a group of people who would go on to become The Residents began making their first recordings. Using a two-track machine, this gaggle of crazy kids, and The Residents, produced two experimental tapes, 'Ballad Of Stuffed Trigger' and 'Rusty Coathangers For The Doctor'. Crude and throwaway, this material was never intended to be heard by anybody outside of the group.

To mark their 30th anniversary as a band, the Residents released this strangely programmatic album, their first since 1998's Wormwood: Curious Stories From the Bible. According to Cryptic Corporation (the band's corporate face), the songs on Demons Dance Alone were "written for the most part in the days following September 11" and "capture a quite different side of the Residents" - a vulnerable and questioning side that poses unanswerable questions.
With all the albums in The Residents discography, this one is one of their best. You still get a lot of The Residents signature sound, but this time it is done with more reverence to deal with the subject matter…

This transitional album for the group may not be one of their best, but makes up for it in historical importance. The self-created myth has that the album was intended to be the first three-sided release, what probably transpired was that the group had more songs than could be fit on a vinyl LP, so a few years later the remaining tracks were released as the Babyfingers EP. Both EP and LP tracks are on the CD reissue, however. Fingerprince is one side of songs, a melding of their earlier, primitive side (their old piano, heard so well on Meet the Residents, is still in service here) with their sinister pop side that would be perfected on Duck Stab and The Commercial Album (including their treated, cheap-sounding drum machines)…

Anganok received its first CD release on November 14th 2020 via Klanggalerie, featuring the previously unreleased complete version of the vocal recording.
