Jacques Pache was born in Belgium, where his father officiated as a pastor. At the age of one, he returned to the country, to Missy near Payerne, where he spent a happy country childhood. Then it will be Aubonne, where he is attending secondary school. Finally, Renens, a stone's throw from Lausanne, where he attended the normal school, he obtained his teacher's certificate before being appointed to Château-d'Œx. At the same time, he enrolled at the Fribourg Conservatory of Music and studied there with the composer Aloÿs Fornerod.

In 1956, he was offered a position at the secondary college of Château d'Œx. He then began a secondary music education certificate which he passed in 1959, before moving in 1960 to Lausanne, where he was appointed to the Secondary College of Béthusy. There he took over the direction of the College Orchestra, which soon became the College Orchestra, bringing together students from Lausanne colleges and then cantonal gymnasiums. In 1966, he created the orchestra camps, music weeks in the mountains. In 1968, he took over the direction of the choir of the College of Bethusy, and created, in 1974, the Preparatory Orchestra. In 1977, he founded the Cinqsept Orchestra, a small chamber orchestra that brings together the best elements from the College and gymnasium Orchestra. This set ceases its activities in 1994. He finally directed the Faller Choir from 1983 to 1989.Jacques Pache receives, in 1982, the Awakening Prize of the Vaudoise Foundation for the promotion and artistic creation. Then, in 2002, he shared with André Charlet, Michel Corboz and Robert Mermoud the Pierre and Louisa Meylan Foundation prize. In June 2000, Antonin Scherrer also paid tribute to him in a book entitled Jacques Pache "Libre", retracing in the form of interviews the highlights of his career and his vision of music education.
