Altair HyperWorks Desktop 2022.3.1 | 1.2 Gb

Altair, a global leader in computational science and artificial intelligence (AI), is pleased to announce the availability of HyperWorks Desktop 2022.3.1. HyperWorks is the unified CAE environment for product development built on the foundation of Altair HyperMesh, the most trusted industry standard for FE modeling and visualization.

2022.3.1 Release Notes
This chapter covers the following:

Enhancements
Specify the border color and thickness of micro dialogs by setting the following environment variables:
- HW_MD_BORDER_THICKNESS: Set the width, in pixels.
- HW_MD_BORDER_COLOR: Set the color, in hex format (for example, #dcdcdc).
Resolved Issues
- HyperWorks now launches properly with the recent versions of glibc.
- GUI text not visible in certain cases on Linux, due to a library mismatch.
- Some dialogs and context menus display on the wrong monitor in certain multi-monitor setups.

API

Resolved Issues
- Performance issue when querying data names via pointers using the hm_getvalue command.

Browsers

Resolved Issues
- Review of Load Collectors and Load Steps entities was not working.
- Hiding a Load Step was not hiding the referenced Loads/Load Collectors.

General

Enhancements
File drag and drop
Session files (*.mvw) and report template files (*.tpl) can now be loaded by dragging and dropping them into the application window.
Advanced Capture tool
It is now possible to relaunch the Advanced Capture tool from the File menu, even if it was already launched. Relaunching the tool resets its position back to the default.
Edit Rigid Option
Added the Edit Rigid option on the graphical context menu to allow access to the panel.
Resolved Issues
- Selecting lines difficult after launching the product in certain environments.
- ModelChecker adds messages on the status bar when selecting elements.
- Improved HyperMesh model read performance.
- Skeleton model creation becomes corrupted when using symmetry.

CAD and Solver Interfaces

Enhancements
Mass Summary Tool
The export of the Mass Summary table data now considers the Assembly hierarchy and total values.

LS-DYNA Interface

Enhancements
Solver Mass Entity
Selecting nodes in the Solver Mass entity table is now activated to allow node selection updates from the Entity Editor.
Performance
Reduced the load time for compressed key files (K.GZ format).
For example:

Resolved Issues
- Corrected Drive Mapping feature to consider *INCLUDE_PATH definition.
- Corrected export format for *SET_PART_TREE when more than eight referenced entities are defined.
- Corrected reading of *MAT_SAMP-1 when followed by a PGP encryption block.
- Corrected *DEFINE_TRANSFORMATION calculation using POINT definition.
- Correction when reading old HyperMesh files that have an *ELEMENT_MASS defined on free nodes. The solvermass entities are now created correctly.

OptiStruct Interface

Enhancements
- THRESH/RTHRESH/TOP/RTOP options in EKE, ESE, and EDE IO cards.
- DENSITY option in RTHRESH, THRESH, TOP, and RTOP IO cards.
- PBUSH and PBSUHT cards enhanced to define KMAG and ANGLE continuation lines.
- New continuation line "COARSE" to coarsen the internally generated MFLUID surface mesh.
- New PARAM option VOLCHANG.

Radioss Interface

Resolved Issues
- Correction to the import and export of /PROP/BEAM when an unresolved beam section is referenced into the property.
- Correction to the export of a /GRNOD set when selected and assigned into contact keywords. In some cases, it was exported as an empty /GRNOD/GENE set.

General

Enhancements
Synchronize Contour and Iso Plots
From the Legend context menu, select the Sync with contour option to always keep the iso plot in sync with the contour plot. This option automatically creates an iso plot when a contour plot is applied. Use the slider at the bottom of the legend to adjust the iso display. Changing the result type or component of the contour plot, for example, recreates the iso plot to match the updated contour. Likewise, the iso plot is cleared when the contour plot is cleared.

- For Notes, the Auto-hide function has been improved to work properly with zero-length (0D) elements.
- The new Tcl API command, viewCtrlHandle GetLastRestoredView, queries the name of the last selected view.
- In HWC, use the command view restore lastrestoredview to restore the last selected view.

Resolved Issues
- Unable to read RMISES results from Abaqus ODB result files.
Known Issues
- Solvers, like OptiStruct and Nastran, can write free body results based in user-defined coordinate systems. Such cases are not supported by the H3D format. Therefore, the Free Body Diagram tool does not display the correct values. A warning message has been added regarding this issue. You can request the solver to output in a different format, such as OP2.

Solver Interfaces

Abaqus Interface

Enhancements

- Support for Abaqus 2023 ODB Files.
Use One Component for Assembly
It's recommended to use this reader option to maximize HyperView’s performance. It groups all elements, at the assembly level, into one single component, reducing the computational effort for several operations. The default option is true.
For example:

LS-DYNA Interface

Enhancements
- Reduced the load time for compressed key files (K.GZ format).

Altair Multi Body Solutions 2022.3.1 Release Notes

Resolved Issues
- Component names for certain formats of CAD, such as STEP and JT, are different in version 2022.3 compared to prior versions.
- In 2022.3, a check was added to report bodies with zero mass or products of inertia. This check is now an option and can be turned on from the Tools menu > Options.
- A MotionView-HyperStudy connection issue caused an *.mdl file to not be saved for each HyperStudy iteration.

Resolved Issues
- A MotionView-HyperStudy connection issue caused an *.mdl file to not be saved for each HyperStudy iteration.

Resolved Issues
• SEAM is unable to open an XML file containing a simple model to represent the STL through acurved shell.

Altair simulation -driven design changed product development forever, enabling engineers to reduce design iterations and prototype testing. Increasing scientific computing power expanded the opportunity to apply analysis, making large design studies possible within the timing constraints of a program. Now engineering adoption of AI is transforming product development again. The combination of physics-based simulation-driven design with machine learning, leveraging the latest in high-performance computing, enables teams to explore more and identify high-potential designs – while rejecting low-potential concepts – even earlier in development cycles. Altair HyperWorks is the most comprehensive, open architecture CAE simulation platform in the industry, offering the best technologies to design and optimize high performance, weight efficient and innovative products. HyperWorks includes best-in-class modeling, linear and nonlinear analyses, structural and system-level optimization, fluid and multi-body dynamics simulation, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), multiphysics analysis, model-based development, and data management solutions. Among various CAE tools, HyperWorks Desktop is on the top of the list. It is used to create complex meshes with advance decision making and design exploration capabilities. It provides a very friendly environment with all the basic tools for simulation and many options at one click. You can perform many advanced operations like structure analysis, mesh handling, physics management, and structural optimization. As it focusses on decision-making so it uses the complex analysis with advanced engineering information to provide a perfect environment.
