Autodesk has released Structural Bridge Design 2024.1.0. This release includes new and updated features, performance enhancements, and fixes for Structural Bridge Design 2024.

What’s New in Autodesk Structural Bridge Design 2024.0

The New Zealand code option has been updated to NZTA Bridge Manual 3rd Edition, Amendment 4. All the New Zealand features in Structural Bridge Design have been moved under the Australian Standards design code option. This integration allows for a structure to have a NZ carriageway with NZ traffic loading, and the design of the sections and beams completed using the Australian Standards design code specification. The load combination groups, envelopes and load optimization have been updated to align with NZTA Bridge Manual 3rd Edition, Amendment 4. The TT530 Fatigue load has been added.

Evaluation of existing bridges has been added according to Section 7.0 of the NZTA Bridge Manual 3rd Edition, Amendment 4. The bridge evaluation loads (HPMV, general access, 50MAX and axle groups) and associated compilations can now be defined. Load automation calculates the optimum highway loading patterns for assessing an existing bridge.

Load optimization to CS 454 Assessment of highway bridges and structures has been enhanced. Service Limit State load optimization added. HB vehicle load optimization option added according to CS 454 Appendix C for ALL model 1 and 2. Corrections to placement of accidental vehicle loading. 'Optimize lane number' option added to fit the optimal number of notional lanes in the selected carriageway for single vehicle or convoy loading.

A non-linear stress-strain curve definition can be defined for the prestress strand material to Australian Standards or AASHTO LRFD.

Several additional enhancements have been made to improve your workflows.
- The ability to copy and paste a series of Design Section loads from a spreadsheet (via the clipboard) is restored.

- Australian Standards: Multiple special vehicles can now be applied to a bridge via load optimisation to AS5100.2.
- Eurocodes: A Design Section parameter named 'High compressive Axial Force' added to control shear capacity for uncracked section without tendons and without designed shear reinforcement. When set to false, EN1992-1-1 Clause 6.2.2(1) Expressions 6.2a and 6.2b are used, otherwise Clause 6.2.2(2) Expression 6.4 is used.
- Eurocodes: All Nationally Determined Parameters added for automating read and write via JSON.
- Error reporting: The Autodesk Error Reporting system is added to assist in tracking issues which cause the software to crash unexpectedly.
- Analytics: The Autodesk Analytics system is added to help Autodesk better understand the use of Autodesk Structural Bridge Design features.

Project / Structural Analysis
- Resolved an issue where the load optimization ignores applied special vehicles or convoys.
- Fixed an issue for New Zealand assessment load optimization with marked lanes, which failed with warning that all the vehicles are wider than the lane.
- Fixed an access violation error on opening the Notes form.
- Resolved incorrect transfer of Eurocode GR1A beam loads, from an analysis envelope, where the loads are split into UDL, Tandem system and footway components.
- Fixed Line Girder Analysis 'loadcase not defined' error for Eurocodes single span bridge containing steel composite girder.
- Avoid creation of New Zealand carriageway loaded element configurations with zero lane widths.
- Resolved missing UDL parts from HO load elements for New Zealand Rating assessment load optimization.
- Fixed application of load reduction factors for HN elements according to NZTA Clause 3.2.4.
- Fixed application of ALF values for New Zealand Rating assessment load optimization.
- Resolved failure resulting in an 'ExecuteCommand' error during structure analysis.
Design Beams
- Fixed steel composite beam bending resistance for Class 1 or 2 according to EN1994-2 6.2.1 to use plastic theory only.
- Resolved the recalculation of post-tensioned tendon jacking forces and associated parameters when the prestress material data changes.
- Fixed the calculation of torsional parameter 'Acp' according to Standards Australia Cl.8.2.1.2.
- Fixed issue where the beam graphic form remains hidden following a visit to the define tendon locations or reinforcement locations form.
Design Sections
- Added tensile strain limit parameter to general stress-strain material.

Autodesk Structural Bridge Design software helps engineers achieve greater flexibility and efficiency in the design of small-to medium-span bridges integrating loading, analysis, and code checking processes whist providing an efficient workflow. This single integrated software solution does not require valuable time importing, exporting or converting data instead it provides tools to help accelerate project completion. Structural Bridge Design refines design options faster with automated updates in a define-analyse-code check loop whenever parameters change. Engineers can additionally improve accuracy and reliability by reviewing code check requirements with detailed “hand” calculation-style design sheets that are created will full formulae and code referencing.
