Kurt Sanderling was one of the great Brahms conductors and many who believe his recordings, especially this cycle from Dresden in 1971-72 is among the greatest ever! Like Karajan, he had a great sense of the musical line, and like Giulini he gave has musicians space to create their own parts organically with their own personalities shining through, but most importantly one immediately gets the sense from the first note, that Sanderling already hears the last note and knows exactly how he intends to get there.

Ethno Catalonia is a 10 day tuneful journey at our music campus in the scenic Mediterranean town of Banyoles (Catalonia), close to a beautiful swimming lake. During the first 5 days participants will immerse in both global folk/traditional music through peer-to-peer song learning, and also in local music and leisure activities. Daily workshops/rehearsals are conducted by our team of professional Artistic Mentors, in order to create and prepare the repertoire of the EthnoCatalonia orchestra, which will perform it in a 3 day concert tour in different venues of Catalonia.

Oliver Herlitzka is a guitarist with jazz and rock influences who has been active in the North German jazz scene for many years. His quintet is characterised by its energetic interplay and rousing live performances. "Between Edges" is the latest album, which impressively demonstrates the versatility and skills of the ensemble. Supertramp's "Breakfast In America" was the biggest selling album in the world in 1979. It spawned several hit singles and went on to win two Grammy Awards and sell in excess of 20 million copies. Following the album's release Supertramp embarked on a 10 month world tour which arrived in Paris at the end of November. This show from the Pavillon de Paris was both filmed and recorded. The audio went on to form the basis of the 1980 live album "Paris" but the film was never released. Now for the first time, transferred and restored to full HD from the original 16mm film, this footage is available to Supertramp's legion of fans worldwide

This album came out of a series of three recording sessions by Sonny Stitt toward the end of 1959, and sees the jazz saxophonist delve into the world of blues.The album blends powerful original songs written by Stitt with a couple of standards that get new life breathed into them. Stitt plays alto sax exclusively on this release, which led to unfair comparisons at the time to Charlie Parker. This album has been out-of-print and almost impossible to find for many years, until now.

"The Soul of Ben Webster" is an album by American jazz saxophonist Ben Webster featuring tracks recorded in 1958 for the Verve label. This is a blowing session that matches the matchless jazz tenor sax master with fellow tenorist Harold Ashby in a program of loose originals.

Music in Valencia in the 15th-16th centuries. "Carols by various authors, in two, and in three, and in four, and in five voices, now again corrected…" (Venice, 1556) is the name under which the Songbook of the Duke of Calabria (or Songbook of Uppsala) was printed. On this album we find a selection from this songbook with works for two and three voices, some of them instrumental, under the title "Organ singing tones", which are configured as composition exercises around the Gregorian modes.

The Spanish record label continues its collaboration with the orchestra of the Auditorium of the Provincial Council of Alicante, where this work was recorded live in a concert, highly celebrated by the public, which garnered praise from critics.

Eli and the Thirteenth Confession is the second album by New York City-born singer, songwriter, and pianist Laura Nyro, released in 1968. The album's themes are of passion, love, romance, death, and drugs, and the songs are delivered in Nyro's distinctive brash, belting vocals. Musically, it is a multi-layered and opulent work, including multi-tracked vocals and strings. The album's loose genre is pop, but it also incorporates elements of soul, gospel, jazz, and rock.

Its members were guitarist Laurindo Almeida, saxophonist and flutist Bud Shank, bassist Ray Brown, and drummer Shelly Manne, replaced by Jeff Hamilton after 1977. They performed a mixture of straight-ahead jazz on the "cool" side, influenced by European Classical music, and bossa nova and samba (Almeida was born in Brazil). They recorded ten albums before disbanding. Chuck Flores was the group's original drummer but did not record with them.

Spanning a three-year period between 2017-2019, Keith Tippett and Matthew Bourne performed a series of two-piano concerts - nearly all of which were recorded. Discus Music is incredibly proud to make the fruits of this vital work available as a double album, comprising of two beautifully-recorded performances from 2019: a set of individual studio pieces recorded at Leeds Conservatoire is paired with a remarkable live performance from Daylight Music at Union Chapel, London; which sadly proved to be Keith's final public statement.

The record featured numerous guest artists, including Norah Jones and Mandy Moore. Ashes and Fire broke the top 10 Albums Charts in Ireland and the UK in 2011 and produced the single "Lucky Now".
