Inga Lühning has become known to a wider audience through her participation in the Frankfurt Jazz Collective [re:jazz]. She has also released several albums of self-written songs under her own name - and when she sings, she always does so sensitively and with the greatest possible dedication to interpretation.

A meditation on the beauty of nature and the fate of the planet, “This Rock We’re On: Imaginary Letters” is a multi-movement work by the acclaimed composer Mike Holober. Written for jazz orchestra, voice, cello, and percussion, it features art songs set for chamber ensemble that take the form of imaginary letters to or from selected “protagonists” – naturalist authors, artists, and activists who dedicated their lives to appreciating and protecting the earth we inhabit. Each of the vocal works is followed by an instrumental jazz orchestra piece that reflects upon the text of the letter. Recorded and premiered by the GRAMMY® nominated Gotham Jazz Orchestra in June 2023, a double album is scheduled for release on 14th of June 2024.

A bit like a society consisting of individuals with different perspectives and life stories, the band members' diverse backgrounds create a unique and varied sound. The music and lyrics touch on everything from life's big questions, small stories, reckoning with the past, and hope for the future. The music is both beautiful and raw, playful and strange. Shakai constantly offers new surprises and unexpected elements. They blend different references, ignore genre definitions, and invite listeners to join them on a journey into their own little strange universe.
