Iggy Pop reformed the Stooges in 1972 after receiving a new recording contract through David Bowie's mediation. Mercifully, he had the Asheton brothers play with him again, but Ron had to switch from guitar to bass.

"Raw Power" is an energetic rock record that leads directly to punk and seems very dangerous. It gives the impression that someone is running against the wall with their head, without having much fun with it. Sometimes the vocals and always the lead guitar are enthroned in double volume over the rhythm foundation of the well-played band. This strange sound belongs to the record and makes up part of its appeal (alternative mixes can be found on Rough Power). Otherwise, the record lives on by Iggy, who sings, croaks, screams, whimpers and howls all the time.
