The third volume of Mozart’s Masses focuses on works written in Salzburg when the composer was in his late teens and early twenties. The Missa in honorem Sanctissimae Trinitatis , a bright celebratory work, is the only Mass setting without soloists that Mozart composed. The Missa Brevis in D major is a compact, economic setting conforming to the Archbishop’s dictates for shorter works. Its companion, the Missa Brevis in B flat major , though keenly responsive and beautiful, upset church musicians because it utilised a Parisian gavotte in the ‘Dona nobis pacem’ and ended Mozart’s employment on a provocative note.

For this new collection, the following albums have been fully remastered from the original mono analog tapes, echoing the experience of the era, when most fans were hearing music on record players, jukeboxes and radios that played music monaurally: "Ray Charles" (1957), "The Great Ray Charles" (1957), "Yes, Indeed!" (1958), "What'd I Say" (1959), "The Genius Of Ray Charles" (1959), "The Genius After Hours" (1961), and "The Genius Sings The Blues" (1961).

Cecil Taylor Unit. Typically sweeping piano solos. Live in the Black Forest is a live album by Cecil Taylor recorded in June 1978 and released on the MPS label. The album features two performances by Taylor with Raphe Malik, Jimmy Lyons, Ramsey Ameen, Sirone and Ronald Shannon Jackson.

Attila Cornelius Zoller was a jazz guitarist born in Hungary. After World War II, he escaped the Soviet takeover of Hungary by fleeing through the mountains on foot into Austria. In 1959, he moved to the U.S., where he spent the rest of his life as a musician and teacher. "Katz and Maus" is his 1966's album subtitled as "Der Meistdiskutierte Film - Die Meistdiskutierte Filmmusik Des Jahres".

New Moon /Silver Moon responds to the many layered histories of two places: Narrm / Melbourne, and Broken Hill on Wilyakali Country, and surrounding Barkindji Country. These songs explore waterways, ecosystems and industrial history, infused with personal reflections from the present. This first portrait album dedicated to the music of the Australian-born, Glasgow-based composer Jane Stanley showcases pieces composed between 2013 and 2023 for different chamber combinations. In addition to some of her favourites among her existing works, Stanley took the opportunity to develop two new pieces: one for each of the two ensembles involved, and specially adapted to their particular talents.

You don’t want to know… Is art just a substitute for what we’ve lost?” In his micro-opera Heretic, Richard Cameron-Wolfe’s enigmatic protagonist breaks the fourth wall, and in the process gives us a window into his artistic vision. Through exploration of dramatic and narrative subtlety in his micro-operas and text settings, expressive shadings of pitch in his use of microtonality, and finely etched treatment of timbre and gesture, Cameron-Wolfe reaches for the ineffable, something embedded in what we’ve “lost” or perhaps an essence of something that we can never possess. Throughout these chamber works, written over a thirty year period, we hear him calibrating his expression towards the mystery that lives between and beyond the sounds, obscuring the transparent surface in favor of the ambiguities of creative uncertainty.

The titles of the musical movements of “Actus tragicus” are taken from various passages of the Bible, as well as texts by Martin Luther, used in the cantata of the same name by Johann Sebastian Bach (BWV 106, also known as “Actus tragicus”). This is one of his earliest cantatas, written when Bach was only 22 years old. The bright, almost joyful nature of the music delights me, as well as the attitude to death it expresses, hence I decided to write my “own” Actus tragicus.

I really like to read scientific articles about nature, stars, quantum physics. One of them says that NASA estimates that there are about 100 to 400 billion stars in our galaxy. In 2015, scientists estimated that there are three trillion trees on Earth. I found this data really impressive. I enjoy hiking in the forest, being in nature and I always felt some mystical energies around trees. Sometimes I wonder that their sense of time is different than ours. In this manner trees are very similar to stars. What it takes decades for us, it is just a short period of time for them. I wanted to express this in my 6 new compositions and arrangements on this album. I wanted to create a dreamy sound and told my musicians to try to take it slow, to listen to each other, to improvise together and let flow with the music. Let the music take us - and the listener- to unknown places, just like when you find a new route in the forest.

This recording features a work with a strange coincidence in its compositional process and an astonishing dual authorship. Remarkably, Silvius Leopold Weiss’s Lute Suite SW47 (which he named Suonata) also comes with a violin part that can be played over the top of it, composed by none other than Johann Sebastian Bach. A recent comparison of sources revealed that the harpsichord part in Bach’s Suite for Violin & Harpsichord BWV1025, long considered to be of doubtful attribution, perfectly matches Weiss’s suite.

The London Choral Sinfonia presents a captivating blend of French choral music under the direction of Michael Waldron, with soloists Nick Pritchard and Miriam Allan. Their new album includes Jean Langlais' monumental masterpiece "Messe Solennelle," accompanied by staples of the choral repertoire: Gabriel Fauré's "Cantique de Jean Racine" and César Franck's "Psalm 150". The album also features hidden gems such as Marcel Dupré's "Quatre Motets," as well as fresh arrangements of Franck’s "Panis Angelicus" and Gounod's "Ave Verum" by Composer-in-Residence, Owain Park.

The album's got a bit of a Headhunters vibe, but it also veers off into some very wild analogue electronics too - a mix of Fender Rhodes, clavinet, melotron, and echoplex processing - augmented by additional work on Arp from Patrick Gleeson. Other players on the set include Bennie Maupin on reeds, Eddie Henderson on trumpet, Julian Priester on trombone, Buster Williams on bass, and Billy Hart on drums, and the great Buck Clarke rounds out the combo on percussion.
