Hard and heavy funky jazz from west coast tenorist Fats Theus – and one of the rarest albums on CTI! This one differs strongly from the label's smoother electric output – as it's got the rough n ready feel of a classic Prestige jazz funk session. Fats is backed by an all star group that includes Hilton Felder on organ, Grant Green on guitar, Idris Muhammad on drums, and Chuck Rainey on bass – and it kind of sounds like Fats is playing an electric tenor, or a Varitone, which gives the set the feel of some of the Lou Donaldson funk albums on Blue Note! Cuts include "Black Out", "Bed Of Nails", "Stone Flower", and "Check It Out".

The Gordon Grdina Quartet creates their unique jazz musiciansship by combining both classical and avant garde jazz techniques throughout this album. Gidon Kremer returns to the Yellow label after more than a decade with the brand new reference recording of Philip Glass Second Violin Concerto "The American Seasons". The album also features works of Arvo Pärt and Giya Kancheli two composers both closely associated with Gidon Kremer, and who are both set to celebrate milestone 80th birthdays this year. Gidon has added the short piece by the well-known Japanese film composer Shigeru Umebayashi as a tribute to his Japanese friends.

Starfish is the fifth album by the Australian rock band The Church, originally released in February 1988. This is the band's international breakthrough album. Starfish went gold in America and has remained their most commercially successful release. The album sold 600,000 copies in the United States alone. This Expanded Edition have been remastered Direct-to-DSD from the original analog master tapes by Ryan K. Smith at Sterling Sound, and includes eight bonus tracks.

Adrian Crowley is a singer, composer, songwriter, lyricist from Galway, based in Dublin and was born in Sliema, Malta. "Some Blue Morning" is his seventh studio album. Crowley achieves a number of interesting and brilliant advances with this collection. The compositions move between sparse dream-state ghost-songs and song-stories to all-out epic numbers with tense nerve-ending strings. We hear essential contributions from members of London string ensemble Geese, cellist Kevin Murphy and singer Katie Kim, amongst others. ‘Some Blue Morning’ was recorded in Dublin with long time friend Steve Shannon.

Claire Boucher aka Grimes' fourth album, produced and engineered by herself. Spanning over 14 tracks, the new album features collaborations with Janelle Monáe and newcomer, Taiwanese rapper Aristophanes. It was recorded primarily in her home studio in Los Angeles, CA, where she relocated to in 2014. Like all of her previous albums, Art Angels was written and recorded entirely as a solo endeavor. The new album features more live instrumentation than ever before on a Grimes record. She plays piano, guitar and violin, continuing her evolution as a musician and a producer for her most ambitious album to date.

"It Will Come To You" is the debut full-length album from one of the most exciting bands to come out of Canada in the last few years - the Vancouver based quartet ACTORS. The album impresses with its cinematically synthwaved brand of forlorn-yet-danceable post-punk that wanders through an early-2000's Interpol type of take on such influences; plus a lush, modernized air of darkness that brings individuality to Actors' approach.

Great pianist as he undoubtedly is, Arcadi Volodos is a cool customer, particularly when it comes to Tchaikovsky. Clearly in no hurry to record, he avoids all tub-thumping Romantic rhetoric and nonchalantly bypasses every difficulty with an ease that can leave you open-mouthed. For his stream of seven Rachmaninov encores Volodos, almost as if released from a pleasant if over-familiar task, allows his playing to blossom with an altogether fuller fragrance and expansiveness.

Since his debut recording released in 1997, Arcadi Volodos, is celebrated as a keyboard genius, and is without a doubt one of today’s most outstanding and internationally interesting pianists. His unlimited virtuosity along with his unique sense of timing, colour and poetry made him a romantic narrator of intensive stories. This performance is an awesome display of keyboard command. The recorded sound does gorgeous justice both to the playing itself, and to the surrounding Vienna Musikvereinsaal acoustic.

Over the course of a career that began more than a quarter of a century ago, Boney James' sound has evolved into one that fused instrumental and vocal R&B with jazz improvisation, making him an artist who has popular acclaim through multiple top selling albums and critical success of multiple Grammy nominations. His 2015 record "Futuresoul" was suited for that intimate evening, while "Honestly" provides the soundtrack for that drive to the spot, cuts for the dance floor, conversation and yes that private moment for two. Sounds like Boney James was trying to create a little something for everybody, and he pulls it off.
