Introduction to Shape Optimization: Shape Sensitivity Analysis

Introduction to Shape Optimization: Shape Sensitivity Analysis by Jan Sokolowski , Jean-Paul Zolesio
English | PDF | 254 Pages | ISBN : 3540541772 | 17.4 MB

This book is motivated largely by a desire to solve shape optimization prob lems that arise in applications, particularly in structural mechanics and in the optimal control of distributed parameter systems. Many such problems can be formulated as the minimization of functionals defined over a class of admissible domains. Shape optimization is quite indispensable in the design and construction of industrial structures. For example, aircraft and spacecraft have to satisfy, at the same time, very strict criteria on mechanical performance while weighing as little as possible. The shape optimization problem for such a structure consists in finding a geometry of the structure which minimizes a given functional (e. g. such as the weight of the structure) and yet simultaneously satisfies specific constraints (like thickness, strain energy, or displacement bounds). The geometry of the structure can be considered as a given domain in the three-dimensional Euclidean space.

Variational Analysis and Aerospace Engineering: Mathematical Challenges for Aerospace Design

Variational Analysis and Aerospace Engineering: Mathematical Challenges for Aerospace Design: Contributions from a Workshop held at the School of Mathematics in Erice, Italy by Giuseppe Buttazzo
English | PDF | 2012 | 467 Pages | ISBN : 1461424348 | 21.4 MB

This volume consists of papers presented at the Variational Analysis and Aerospace Engineering Workshop II held in Erice, Italy in September 2010 at the International School of Mathematics "Guido Stampacchia". The workshop provided a platform for aerospace engineers and mathematicians (from universities, research centers and industry) to discuss the advanced problems requiring an extensive application of mathematics. The presentations were dedicated to the most advanced subjects in engineering and, in particular to computational fluid dynamics methods, introduction of new materials, optimization in aerodynamics, structural optimization, space missions, flight mechanics, control theory and optimization, variational methods and applications, and so on.

Topological Derivatives in Shape Optimization by Antonio André Novotny
English | PDF | 2013 | 422 Pages | ISBN : 3642352448 | 4.6 MB

The topological derivative is defined as the first term (correction) of the asymptotic expansion of a given shape functional with respect to a small parameter that measures the size of singular domain perturbations, such as holes, inclusions, defects, source-terms and cracks. Over the last decade, topological asymptotic analysis has become a broad, rich and fascinating research area from both theoretical and numerical standpoints.

Advanced Manufacturing Processes III

Advanced Manufacturing Processes III: Selected Papers from the 3rd Grabchenko’s International Conference on Advanced Manufacturing Processes (InterPartner-2021), September 7-10, 2021, Odessa, Ukraine by Volodymyr Tonkonogyi
English | PDF | 2022 | 728 Pages | ISBN : 3030913260 | 79.4 MB

This book offers a timely snapshot of innovative research and developments at the interface between manufacturing, materials and mechanical engineering, and quality assurance. It covers a wide range of manufacturing processes, such as grinding, boring, milling, turning, woodworking, coatings, including additive manufacturing. It focuses on laser, ultrasonic, and combined laser–ultrasonic hardening treatments, and dispersion hardening. It describes tribology and functional analysis of coatings, separation, purification and filtration processes, as well as ecological recirculation and electrohydraulic activation, highlighting the growing role of digital twins, optimization and lifecycle management methods, and quality inspection processes.
