Numerical Methods for Linear Complementarity Problems in Physics-Based Animation

Numerical Methods for Linear Complementarity Problems in Physics-Based Animation by Sarah Niebe
English | PDF (True) | 2014 | 161 Pages | ISBN : 1627053719 | 19.69 MB

Linear complementarity problems (LCPs) have for many years been used in physics-based animation to model contact forces between rigid bodies in contact. More recently, LCPs have found their way into the realm of fluid dynamics. Here, LCPs are used to model boundary conditions with fluid-wall contacts. LCPs have also started to appear in deformable models and granular simulations. There is an increasing need for numerical methods to solve the resulting LCPs with all these new applications. This book provides a numerical foundation for such methods, especially suited for use in computer graphics. This book is mainly intended for a researcher/Ph.D. student/post-doc/professor who wants to study the algorithms and do more work/research in this area. Programmers might have to invest some time brushing up on math skills, for this we refer to Appendices A and B.

Mathematical Analysis II (Repost)

Mathematical Analysis II by Claudio Canuto, Anita Tabacco
English | True PDF | 2015 | 563 Pages | ISBN : 331912756X | 12.9 MB

The purpose of the volume is to provide a support textbook for a second lecture course on Mathematical Analysis. The contents are organised to suit, in particular, students of Engineering, Computer Science and Physics, all areas in which mathematical tools play a crucial role. The basic notions and methods concerning integral and differential calculus for multivariable functions, series of functions and ordinary differential equations are presented in a manner that elicits critical reading and prompts a hands-on approach to concrete applications.

Differential Calculus

Differential Calculus by P. J. Hilton
English | PDF | 1958 | 65 Pages | ISBN : 0710043414 | 2.2 MB

THIS book is intended to provide the university student in the physical sciences with information about the differential calculus which he is likely to need. The techniques described are presented with due regard for their theoretical basis; but the emphasis is on detailed discussion of the ideas of the differ ential calculus and on the avoidance of false statements rather than on complete proofs of all results.

The Historical Development of the Calculus

The Historical Development of the Calculus by C. H. Edwards
English | PDF | 1979 | 363 Pages | ISBN : 0387943137 | 26.6 MB

The calculus has served for three centuries as the principal quantitative language of Western science. In the course of its genesis and evolution some of the most fundamental problems of mathematics were first con fronted and, through the persistent labors of successive generations, finally resolved. Therefore, the historical development of the calculus holds a special interest for anyone who appreciates the value of a historical perspective in teaching, learning, and enjoying mathematics and its applications.

Basic Training in Mathematics: A Fitness Program for Science Students by R. Shankar
English | PDF | 1995 | 371 Pages | ISBN : 0306450356 | 25 MB

Based on course material used by the author at Yale University, this practical text addresses the widening gap found between the mathematics required for upper-level courses in the physical sciences and the knowledge of incoming students. This superb book offers students an excellent opportunity to strengthen their mathematical skills by solving various problems in differential calculus. By covering material in its simplest form, students can look forward to a smooth entry into any course in the physical sciences.
