1998, Swedish band and have been compared to Talisman, Rainbow and Lillian Axe! Debut album produced by Par Edwardson [MILLION]. The outstanding Guitar work of Robert [Gene] Hansson will set many an air guitar a twanging, and with the outrageous lead vocals of Stefano Marchesini [Dio/Soto on a good day] will help make this debut offering one of the most successful.
Not really what I'd call a power metal album based on what I've heard here, but I'm not even fazed by the miscategorization. This band is solid as hell. Some pretty heavy pounding AOR is what you'll hear here, with a rare couple of lame moments. Great vocals, nice key usage, really nice audible bass. Seriously. Some tasty basslines on here.

It has some themes of christianity/religion, but usually not cringeworthily so. Strikes a fair balance of strong bombastic music while still spreading whatever holy stuff they are into. Since the music is strongly written, you don't even think about this part if you aren't religious.

They use plenty of different guitar effects to better differentiate songs, phasers, wah, the whole shebang in their riffs to keep each song interesting despite relatively simple straightforward writing. The keys actually join as a riff-like element in a couple of songs (see Mothership for example), not simply a backing atmosphere. It feels fun and whimsical when the songs are written this way. They're good with this sort of Queen-esque whimsical feel. We've also got some acoustic interludes bringing a lot of feeling in where it's needed.

To describe the vocals, they're usually mid-range but rather energetic and with a lot of oomph. It works with the heavy rock sound they go for on here. Often utilizing a 2-layer vocal harmony to widen the sound.

The track Them is what I mean when I say there are lame moments on here. The female vocals that come in haphazardly really made me cringe. It's not a very good track. This song is also devoid of most of the AOR muscle the album typically flexes. (And those "lalala"s at the end of the song, shut up lady!) Aside from that track, there's a really hard to take seriously part on Into the Light where the vocalist seems to start scatting or something? That part is strange as hell. The final instrumental track E20 Expressway sounds like a song out of Chrono Trigger for some reason. It's kind of cool I guess and a bit atmospheric, but doesn't really fit the rest of the album. These weird moments screw with the overall enjoyability of the album.
