The third and last album by the German Rockband Bullfrog, originally released 1980, now on CD for the very first time. The bonus tracks have been recorded in Chicago 1981, the tapes disappeared and and were found again 2007, 25 years later! Groovy, funky Hardrock and an unique frontman, who sadly passed away some years ago.

Singer Gerd Hoch has an astoundingly gruff, rough voice that's going to be hard for some listeners to take, but his style largely suits the music. Not really a whole lot of prog on the A-side, pretty much straight-up hard boogie rock. The last two tracks, both extending longer than ten minutes, are the reasons to get this album. Full of Floydian changes and an Eloy-like spaciness, they're well-done for this style of music. Nice layers of celestial synths and aggressive Hammond organ from keysman Harald Kaltencker. Italian drummer Bruno Perosa (whose prior prog pedigree extends to playing the percussion-y bits in "Canto Nomade per un Prigioniero Politico" on Banco's Io Sono Nato Libero album) even adds a cosmic recitation (in Italian!) at the beginning of "Desert Man".

"High in Spirits" was the second album by the German rock band Bullfrog, released in 1977 on Sky Records. On CD for the very first time! The music of Bullfrog departed from the style and standard of German rock bands. It was an original take on American rhythm and blues. The musicianship is excellent, and the arrangements center on heavy guitar and Hammond organ duels and harmony parts. This is very typical of some of the other Sky productions of the era, and would probably really appeal to people who like bands like Jane, Harlis, Birth Control, Epitaph, and UK bands like Uriah Heep.
This CD contains the original version of the album mixed by Conny Plank and an alternative mix from Studio Hiltpoltstein. Now it's up to you to chose your favorite Bullfrog song!
