Locked In is the sixth studio album by the rock band Wishbone Ash. The album peaked at No. 36 in the UK Albums Chart in April 1976. Considered by many, including the band themselves, to be one of the weaker entries in their extensive catalog. The band frequently place the blame on producer Tom Dowd, who insisted the band play much quieter in the studio, removing much of the energy of their performances. The band had switched U.S. distribution to Atlantic Records for this and the next release, New England.

No Smoke Without Fire is the ninth studio album by rock band Wishbone Ash. It is the first album since 1972's Argus to be produced by Derek Lawrence. It is also the heaviest Wishbone Ash album in years, featuring rockers like the hit single "You See Red" and the multi-part progressive rock epic "The Way of the World." Many fans considered this to be a true return to form after their flirting with an "American" sound on their previous trio of albums.

Time Was, Wishbone Ash's two CD-live anthology, was assembled by the band and the labels Castle and Sanctuary. Consisting of two previously released live recordings, only half of this is even worth hearing. The first disc, Live: Time Line, sounds like a bunch of geezers on their last legs and features only guitarist Andy Powell and bassist Martin Turner from the original lineup. Poorly recorded, tiredly played and utterly boring, it sounds more like a corner bar Wishbone Ash tribute band than the real thing – which of course it's not. In fact, the only case that ever needs to be made for bands not reuniting is this one. Disc two, originally issued as King Will Come: Live, is prime Ash. Recorded in the U.S. and Canada from 1973 through '76, at the height of their powers, this date showcases a restless, hungry, fully adventurous unit with Powell, Turner, drummer Steve Upton, keyboardist Graham Maitland and guitarist Laurie Wisefield. While the recording itself isn't stellar it's far more than passable and will be a welcome addition to the catalog for punters who didn't get it the first time around. The title track, "Blowin; Free," "The Warrior," "Balled of the Beacon," "Doctor," and "Moonshine" are all here, as well as nine others. This set makes plain the reason they ordered the performances in reverse: if King Will Come: Live had been first, no one would have ever even played Live: Time Line. As it is, folks who encounter Live: Time Line first may feel so ripped off by its horror, they may never stumble upon the treasure that is King Will Come: Live.

After a lengthy legal battle over the Wishbone Ash name with founding vocalist and bassist Martin Turner, guitar/vocalist Andy Powell, the group's only remaining original member, prevailed. As a result, his band sounds totally revitalized on Blue Horizon, WA's 22nd album. Though few punters consider it, this group was one of the great purveyors of classic arena rock's twin-guitar sound or the European sound of the Atlantic (the first was Thin Lizzy). So much so, they won an enormous following in the birthplace of such pyrotechnics, America.

During the early and mid-'70s, Wishbone Ash were among England's most popular hard rock acts. The band's sound was rooted in energetic hard rock, with a strong progressive rock influence in their extended compositions, inventive melodic sense, and the epic-scale soloing from their various guitarists (most notably Andy Powell, the group's sole constant member). Despite extensive personnel changes throughout their existence, Wishbone Ash maintained a distinct sound and a prolific longevity that earned them a lasting following.

Turner was replaced (for this album only) by John Wetton, formerly of Family, King Crimson, Uriah Heep, UK and future Asia. Also featured on Number the Brave is vocalist Claire Hamill as backing vocals, who would permanently join Wishbone Ash on the 1981 tour.

There's the Rub is the fifth studio album by rock band Wishbone Ash. It is the first album to feature guitarist/vocalist Laurie Wisefield, who would be a major part of the band's creative direction for the next 11 years. The album is considered by many to be a highpoint of the band's recording career. The title is taken from Shakespeare's Hamlet; "To sleep—perchance to dream: ay, there's the rub." The track "F.U.B.B." caused controversy because of the acronym's meaning ("Fucked Up Beyond Belief") upon the album's release. Moreover, the haunting ballad "Persephone" would go on to become one of the band's most popular live songs. The lyrics of "Lady Jay" are based on the Dartmoor folk legend about Kitty Jay.

Wishbone Ash are a British rock band who achieved success in the early and mid-1970s. Wishbone Ash are noted for their extensive use of the harmony twin lead guitar format which had been attracting electric blues bands since Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page had played together in the Yardbirds in 1966.Their contributions helped Andy Powell and Ted Turner to be voted "Two of the Ten Most Important Guitarists in Rock History" (Traffic magazine 1989), and to appear in the "Top 20 Guitarists of All Time" (Rolling Stone). Melody Maker (1972) described Powell and Turner as "the most interesting two guitar team since the days when Beck and Page graced The Yardbirds". They have been cited as an influence by Iron Maiden founder and bassist Steve Harris, as well as Thin Lizzy and other dual guitar bands. CD1 is Liverpool 1976 concert. CD2 is the 1992 Chicago concert.

Bona Fide is a studio album from the legendary British rock band Wishbone Ash. It is the first studio album in six years (since 1996's Illuminations) and is the only studio album to feature guitarist Ben Granfelt. The band began on a two-year, worldwide tour in support of the album beginning in 2002. In the main, the album remains firmly within the parameters established by the band over many years, guitar driven vocal rock being the order of the day. The brief dabbling with prog nuances of the early albums are pretty much absent here, the emphasis being on gathering together a collection of highly accessible numbers.

The story of Wishbone Ash is a long and winding one, covering some four and a bit decades. Currently there are two versions of The Ash treading the boards, what with the band's original bassist/singer Martin Turner also going out under the WA banner since 2004. Elegant Stealth however is album number 23 from the version of the band who can rightly trace their history back to 1970, being led by the band's only constant - guitarist and vocalist Andy Powell. Yes, that does make him the only long term member of this band, however guitarist Muddy Maninnen, bassist Bob Skeat and drummer Joseph Crabtree along with Powell have produced in Elegant Stealth, an album not only worthy of the Wishbone Ash heritage, but of their future as well.

The second reunion album (and the sixth and final overall by the original lineup) sees WA return to conventional songs after 1987’s Nouveau Calls’ all instrumentals approach. It does not see them return to their classic style - like Nouveau Calls, HTH is a modern album, full of 80s adult contemporary sounds. However, it is much better than Nouveau Calls, like an update on Front Page News with its focus on light pop rock. HTH sports some great toe tappers such as Keeper Of The Light, with its Andy Powell guitar riff, shimmering production and hook-filled Martin Turner vocal. Witness To Wonder may be the softest of soft rock but gets away with it thanks to drummer Steve Upton’s atmospheric percussion and a gorgeous blend of chiming guitars and relaxing synths. There is an instrumental here in In The Case and it does sound like it could’ve been on Nouveau Calls but good work from Martin and Powell make it more charismatic…
